Sustainability

Producing sustainable natural beef remains a primary focus for Cedar River Farms

Our producers use a variety of production methods in efforts to ensure sustainable forage sources and supply of natural cattle for long-term viability of Cedar River Farms. On behalf of Cedar River Farms, JBS is a founding member of the U.S. Roundtable of Sustainable Beef (USRSB) and a current member of the Board of Directors.

The USRSB has established six high-priority indicators for sustainable beef production to include:

Animal Health and Well-Being

Efficiency and Yield

Land Resources

Water Resources

Air and Greenhouse Gas Emissions

Employee Safety and Well-Being

Cedar River Farms is also recognized for its alignment to the U.S. Beef Industry Sustainability Framework. The Framework is an industry-adopted resource that outlines key areas of sustainability and opportunities for improvement across the beef value chain. It is comprised of high-priority indicators, sector-specific metrics, and sustainability assessment guides. Learn more here.

The USRSB is working to advance continuous improvement of the beef supply chain by also developing practiced-based Metrics and Sustainability Assessment Guides which will measure progress against the high-priority indicators. Our active involvement in this organization shows our commitment to keeping sustainable natural beef on the table.
